Sorry Charlie. The McCain camp needed a game changer and that simply did not happen. Palin was capable of that-look at her speech at the convention. She did not do it last night and Biden pretty much had her beat. The real story last night was not Palin-expectations were so low of her that she had to just show up to beat them. The real story should have been Biden. You know gaffe filled Joe who would have been bashed badly if he beat up on Palin (think Lazio shoving the pen in Hillary's face in 2000 or George Bush's "kicked a little ass" over Ferraro back in 2000). Biden could not even pull a Bentsen on Palin's Quayle; again he would have been trashed. Biden did not come off as condescending or a bully. Biden did very well in the various Democratic primary debates and probably would have been called the winner of most of them had his campaign actually mattered (and he certainly did better than the rest of the second and third tier). He handled Palin and did not come off looking badly. McCain needed to stop Obama's momentum last night and that did not happen.
