This is what a Republican operative told Marc Ambinder about McCain’s home crisis:
“Americans don’t like this class warfare stuff,” the official said. They aspire to be rich, the official said. They don’t aspire to eat arugala or hang out with celebrities.
Now I’ve noted in an earlier post that the first half of this statement is largely true. But it’s one thing for me to say it and another for a McCain operative to do so. Do they actually believe this stuff? Do they not have any idea how condescending they sound?
The McCain people are also spreading the lie that the home flap is an attack on Cindy. So Wright and Rezko are suddenly “fair game.” What were they before?
What a load of garbage. McCain’s people must be scared this one might stick.
