Remember in Rain Man, when Ray (Dustin Hoffman) refused to fly on any airline except Qantas because only Qantas “never crashed”?

Well, he’s in trouble now:

[Qantas] Flight QF30 was carrying 346 passengers and 19 crew from London to Melbourne when it was forced to make an emergency landing in Manila after it suddenly lost cabin pressure and dropped 20,000 feet.  Passengers reported hearing a loud bang before the plane lost altitude.  When the aircraft landed a two metre-long gash had appeared close to the baggage hold. Suitcases could be seen through the gap.

Thank Buddha that everyone was okay.  Authorities have ruled out a bomb as the cause.

I love Qantas.  Molly and I flew it all over Australia when we were there in 2006.  I would still fly them any chance I get.
