Cheetos-Eating Surrender Monkeys
I’m a little late to this. But I promise it’s worth your while just for the monkey picture.
The other morning, Joe Scarborough — you’re going to need to sit down for this — made fun of bloggers because they criticized John McCain’s comments on the relative timing of the surge and the Anbar Awakening.
I know. Who’da thunk? Here’s what he said, via Think Progress:
“[Bloggers are] just sitting there, eating their Cheetos” and saying, “Let me google Anbar Awakening!” He added, “Dust flying — Cheeto dust flying all over. They’re wiping it on their bare chest while their underwear — you know, their Hanes.”
The next day he called bloggers the “Cheeto Brigade.” Other bloggers took it pretty well. Yglesias had a photo of and post on Ackerman in his undies sitting at his laptop, eating Cheetos, and offering a restaurant critic’s review.
But Obama supporters’ reaction was more of the royal “we are not amused” variety. One even went so far as to organize a “mail Scarborough a bag of Cheetos” protest on the My Barack Obama website.
Come on people. Believing in change should not mean you have to check your sense of humor at the door. Get over yourselves already. Sending a bag of Cheetos to Scarborough isn’t funny, it’s predictable.
Proudly calling ourselves Cheeto-eating surrender monkeys, now that would be funny.
So in that spirit, I’ve designed a t-shirt over at Cafe Press. Here’s what it says:

UPDATE: Turns out I’ll have to use something other than Cheetos as it violates Cafe Press’s trademark policies. What do people think? Would you buy a shirt called “cheese puff eating surrender monkey”?
