Robert “The Hulk of Darkness” Novak takes out his rage at McCain on an innocent bystander. From Politico:
Syndicated columnist Robert D. Novak was cited by police after he hit a pedestrian with his black Corvette in downtown Washington, D.C., on Wednesday morning…. [A witness]said that the pedestrian, who was crossing the street on a “Walk” signal and was in the crosswalk, rolled off the windshield and that Novak then made a right into the service lane of K Street. “This car is speeding away. What’s going through my mind is, you just can’t hit a pedestrian and drive away,” [the witness] said. He said he chased Novak half a block down K Street, finally caught up with him and then put his bike in front of the car to block it and called 911.
Novak hit a 66-year-old white guy. Wonder if he was a McCain look-alike?
In all seriousness, let’s hope his unfortunate victim is okay.
UPDATE: Okay, look. Novak is a jerk. And he deserves to have his license revoked. And he should be charged with hit and run. I agree with all of that.
But I think this is kind of pushing the envelope a bit, people:

Our sympathies go out to the victim of Novak’s action. Once again Novak has demonstrated his callous disregard for the rights of others, as well as his chronic inability to accept responsibility for his actions.
We have long argued that responsible adults should take Novak’s typewriter away. The time has arrived for them to also take away the keys to his Corvette.

I’m sorry, but I really really really don’t care what Joe Wilson and Valerie Plame have to say about this — any more than I care about, say, what George Will has to say about baseball or Rush Limbaugh has to say about football. They are not experts in these fields.
I’ve never hidden my sympathy for the Wilsons. Valerie got shafted, and Novak is at least partly to blame. But it’s time for them to go back to Santa Fe and shut the hell up already.
