Are You (In)Experienced?
Oh thank Buddha we have such an experienced leader in the White House, one capable of recognizing the wisdom of a timetable for withdrawing from Iraq! McClatchey:
The United States and Iraq have agreed to a “general time horizon” for further reductions of U.S. combat troops in Iraq, the White House said Friday, the first time the Bush administration has agreed to set any kind of timeline for troop withdrawals.
Who knows what would happen if that inexperienced Obama guy and The 300 were to get elected? I mean he might actually listen to our allies and do something stupid– like agreeing to a withdrawal that the Iraqis have made clear that they want to happen sooner rather than later. Iraqi Prime Minister Nour al-Maliki:
“U.S. presidential candidate Barack Obama talks about 16 months,” [Maliki said]. “That, we think, would be the right timeframe for a withdrawal, with the possibility of slight changes.”
Uh-oh. So much for John McCain’s entire campaign.
But wait. In this White House, agreeing to a time horizon is not the same as agreeing to withdrawal. From the same story:
[T]he White House said [the agreement] wasn’t a reversal of President Bush’s long opposition to any fixed schedule for troop reductions, including the veto of bills that included timetables for withdrawal.
And in other news, the White House also said that black should not be considered black, but instead is consistent with their long standing policy of white.
George Orwell, white courtesy phone please.
