Apparently John McCain told a New Hampshire audience back in December 2007 that he “hates the bloggers.”  John, John, John, don’t you know that you should be a player, not a player hater?

I only have two points to add to this tempest in a teapot.

1.  Notice how all the outrage has been in the blogosphere and not in the mainstream media?  I would guess that’s because… the mainstream media hates the bloggers too.  I have an op-ed on this point under consideration at The Washington Post at the moment, though I’m not holding my breath.

2.  John McCain’s daughter Meghan, with what I thought was his active support, has her own blog, which is devoted in large part to promoting his candidacy.  And here’s the kicker:  according to her blog, she was there when he said it.  Hmmmm.  Do I sense some unresolved family issues here?

And by the way, if you haven’t visited Meghan’s blog lately, make sure you haven’t just eaten when you do.  Check this out — the caption is “Mom and Dr. Kissinger share some funny stories….”

OMG!  That is like so totally awesome!

So what “funny stories” do you think they were sharing?  Maybe  “Cindy, did you hear they actually tried to prosecute me for war crimes?”  HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.  “But seriously, Henry, thanks for hosting this ‘finance event’ for us.

And this has to qualify as the worst transition of the day, also from the front page of Meghan’s website:

Ah that wacky Heather, what a jokester!  Pretending to have a dirty stinking blue collar white trash job instead of getting paid to hang out with me! LOL!

I don’t know about her dad, but when it comes to my opinion of Meghan’s blog, maybe hate isn’t too strong a word.
